What parents need to know
Parents need to know that Index Card Board is a card-making tool with many uses. Kids who struggle with organizational skills and need visual cues to help them memorize vocabulary words may find it especially helpful because creating the cards is easy, and there's no stack of cards to lose. Kids can create cards using images from a gallery or their own camera roll, and they can share their cards in-app or via Dropbox. What kids can learn
Index Card Board is easy to use and has lots of customization options for the cards to keep studying fresh.
Index Card Board uses the traditional study method of making flash cards but updates it with colors and images, which helps visual learners. Cards can be sorted by subject to help with organizational skills, and students can store their files in Dropbox so they can access them anywhere. Kids can get the benefits of using index cards for collecting information or studying without worrying about writing them by hand or losing them.
The opening "Welcome" corkboard is lined with index cards with hints and ideas on best practices for using the app.
What's it about?
INDEX CARD BOARD takes the basics of flash cards and brings them alive with creativity. Kids can create their own flash cards by category and color, choosing their own fonts and images. Topics and uses are limitless, including vocabulary, foreign languages, math facts, science terms, and so on. Cards can be shuffled to randomize them for review.
Is it any good?
Index Card Board is a great tool for kids to keep track of notes and study materials without having to worry about lost and/or disorganized cards. Creating cards is easy, and storing them on the device saves paper and backpack space. Having the ability to add images benefits kids who are visual learners, and typing is often easier than writing for kids with fine motor issues. One drawback is the lack of versatility in searching and sorting: If a kid needs to find a specific card among many, there's no easy way to do it. A few more organizational options would boost the app's usefulness.
