Click Cam Review

Click Cam is an interesting new way of sharing photos in that it's entirely random how it does it. It's more of a curiosity than an app you'd spend great amounts of time with given its many limitations, but hey, it's free, so that kind of works.

All you need to do is enter a few simple sign up details before taking a photo and uploading it to Click Cam. The actual photo taking interface is pretty basic when it comes to options, but you can choose from a few filters once the image has been snapped. Once you're happy with what you've snapped you can name it, then simply hit the red button so it goes off to some other user somewhere. You'll never know where or really what the person thought of it. The recipient can rate it but you don't get to find out how you fared.

It works both ways, though. Once you've sent a picture, you can then view other people's work. Again, it's just the image along with a title, but you can opt to rate it as well. This presumably makes a difference somewhere. Click Cam's App Store description mentions a global high score factor, but I never found a leaderboard of any kind. I'm guessing it affects how frequently others will see your images through the service.

That's the main problem with Click Cam. It's all a little too vague to be captivating. A service such as this could be quite cool, allowing you to discover things you wouldn't already consider looking at, but it's a bit too random and lightweight to hook you in. Being so anonymous means you feel removed from the whole thing so after you've sent a couple of photos and browsed a few others. The untapped potential will be clearly obvious to regular snappers.
