Parents need to know that BlockStarPlanet is like Minecraft meets RPG meets social networking app. Players fight each other in arenas with a variety of weapons but there's no blood or gore. Chat is filtered, but players can get around filters with some creativity. During our review, players both flirted with each other and made unkind personal remarks. Expect heavy pressure to join VIP, which can run from $3.99/week to $44.99/year. VIP gift boxes, special objects, and member-only portals are everywhere; it will be hard for kids to resist. Tutorials exist, but kids will need to do some work to find them. Touch controls are challenging to use, especially for things like combat.
