What parents need to know
Parents need to know that Curious About Me features preschoolers' favorite monkey, helping kids create movies that let them think and talk about their own lives and experiences. Kids take photos of themselves, their families, friends, and pets; record audio and video to add to their stories; or create their own art. The movie incorporates these contributions into the stories, which are automatically saved in-app or to the device's camera roll. Note: It requires quite a bit of storage space to hold all the pictures and videos kids can add to their stories.What kids can learn
What's more fun than a movie with a beloved character? A movie with a beloved character that's about YOU! Kids will love personalizing their movies with video clips, pictures, and audio clips of them, their belongings, and their families.
As kids follow each step of the creation process, they'll think critically and creatively, and then they'll see their ideas come to life in the story -- from the butterflies they colored to pictures of their family and their favorite things to do.
Kids can create as many stories as they'd like, and multiple users can set up their own profiles. Since instructions are given verbally, nonreaders can easily make movies. The movies can be saved to the device's camera roll and shared from there.
What's it about?
The Man in the Yellow Hat narrates, telling kids that "George is so curious to find out all about you." Kids choose to create a new movie, continue one they've already made, or watch one they've created. To make their movies, kids choose from two story options: "Curious About Me with Curious George" or "A Day at the Zoo with Curious George." They then follow the verbal instructions to color pictures, take or draw pictures, record audio, and shoot video. Their contributions are then added seamlessly into the movie.
Is it any good?
CURIOUS ABOUT ME lets kids create stories with a beloved character about the person they know best: themselves! Multiple kids can create movies, and several movies can be saved in-app, so this is a great choice for families with multiple kids. Though there are only two story theme options, kids can change up their responses to the prompts to change the stories. The verbal instructions are easy to follow, so preschoolers can set out to snap pictures, shoot video, color, and do more on their own with minimal adult intervention (although kids may need help with things such as locating where they live on the map). The movies play through impressively well, with kids' contributions fitting in seamlessly. It'd be nice to have a few more story themes, but what's included will delight kids, producing movies they'll be proud to share.

As kids explore their home, taking pictures of people and favorite things, families can outline some safety and privacy guidelines, such as asking a person's permission before taking his or her picture and being respectful to yourself and others.
