What parents need to know
Parents need to know that Easy Studio - Animate with Shapes! is a beginning animation app based entirely on creating moving scenes with colorful shapes. A fun tutorial and Easy Mode-level lessons empower even young kids who are new to the animation process to use fill-in images of animated geometric shapes, as well as a train and an airplane, to create simple animated scenes in only a few minutes. Kids simply fill in shapes, take a snapshot, fill in more shapes, take another snapshot, and so on until they complete the animated scene. They then press Play to watch the action. The free play mode allows kids to create anything using shapes that can be resized, rotated, and colored to maximize creativity. When kids enter the new soundtrack feature, they'll be asked to allow access to the microphone. Easy Studio also is a fun way to learn how shapes form objects within a success-oriented introduction to animation. What kids can learn
If kids follow the tutorial and lessons, creating a simple animated video is nearly a sure thing on this well-designed, step-by-step app. Kids will have so much fun creating and sharing their animations!
Easy Studio's engrossing basic animation, geometric shapes, and art study empower kids to use the skills in Easy Mode to create whatever they can imagine using shapes in Expert Mode.
Kids learn the how-to's of animation through the tutorial and Easy Mode lessons. They can view the elapsed time in each animation via a bar on the bottom of the screen, and save and view all their own animations in the Library.
What's it about?
EASY STUDIO - ANIMATE WITH SHAPES!, an extremely simple and effective beginning animation app, offers both an Easy Mode and an Expert Mode. In Easy Mode, a tutorial demonstrates how to move shapes, take photos, and move shapes again to create an animation. Five more lessons help kids learn basic animation techniques by creating an animated accordion, train, airplane, and more. Expert Mode provides all the same shapes and tools with no creative direction; kids simply press Play or tap into the Library to watch saved animations. In the Library, kids can edit animations or add an audio track in the form of their own recorded voice, or pre-recorded silly noises and musical notes.
Is it any good?
Creating moving digital images may seem like a difficult concept to introduce to young kids, but Easy Studio finds a way. This excellent early introduction to animation makes the process seem simple as kids learn how shapes interact to create objects and designs. After completing the initial tutorial and five preplanned lessons, kids will have all the skills they need to jump into Expert (aka free play) Mode. Watching saved animations is as easy as pressing Play. Settings include languages, speed of images per second, use of shadows, and enabled or disabled Internet links.
