Amazing World Ocean is a splendid encyclopedia app I am eager to share with readers. From first glance it became obvious how special this app is, as it allows users to examine many majestic aquatic creatures within their own watery habitat. I appreciate how users are able to scroll through a cross-section of the ocean, allowing this space to be organized by depth from the schools of fish found closest to the surface down to the colorful coral, reef and lower still to meet dolphins, whales, and other aquatic mammals. Deeper waters include shark varieties as well as the inhabitants of the deep ocean that include the spotlight Loosejaw and the Sea Devil anglerfish.
Readers should show a bit of patience to allow this app to re-focus when scrolling back and forth, but when the images are in focus be prepared to be seriously impressed. The 3D look of each of these species is simply captivating, with crisp details, brilliant colors where applicable, and a use of light and shadows that add effective highlights to the creatures found in the deepest parts of the ocean that makes them pop against dark ocean waters.
Ambient music, which includes ocean sounds, is heard throughout and really adds a lot to the experience and creates a tone of suspense and intrigue that fits very well within this application. A tap of any animal will take users to a page of thoughtfully curated facts that allow children and their adults to really get to know each of these species – including a 3D image one can rotate to see a full view of as well as many exceptional photographs with vivid details and bold colors that all will be impressed by.
Very good narration reads the larger informational text included about these creatures, often including a story of their life complete with the drama of survival as well as curious details about their appearance and other interesting tidbits. A Habitat Map is also included, as is a scale reference comparing the fish to a human and well a table that includes the length, height, and depth at which this species can be found – along with shorter fun facts.
It is a privilege to be able to view the included images while listening to the stellar narration. There are few notes I have for Amazing World Ocean as this app possesses an incredible amount of polish, including over 250 photos and interesting facts, making it both an audio as well as visual experience rivaling a visit to an aquarium. I am very impressed with Amazing World Ocean, and I whole-heartedly recommend this app not just to families but to all adults who may be curious about ocean life.
