ASAP Shapes is a very simple game, but that doesn't stop it from being pretty taxing. The idea taps into the fact that we should all be able to identify shapes in a very short amount of time, but you'll certainly find yourself being surprised at the results. It's perhaps a little too simplistic to play for a hugely long time, but it's worth checking out as a passing distraction.
Each level offers up one shape in the middle and two to the sides. You need to pick the shape that matches the one in the middle by tapping on it. Do so quickly as there's a timer bar that will run out fast. At first you might be a little slow on the uptake but, ASAP Shapes is a game that's all about practice making perfect. The more you play, the better you get at it.
The shapes stay reasonably clear in how they’re set out, with each difference usually very clear to see but still requiring some speedy reactions. It's fun to try to chip away at your previous high score, but that's also where a significant issue emerges. There's no Game Center support, meaning you can't easily compare high scores with your friends. There's the option to share scores via Twitter but it's designed in an awkward way and really doesn't replace a more well-rounded effort, such as Game Center.
That's the main thing that's going to stop you from returning for more. While a few new modes would always be welcome, it's being able to compete with your friends that would really keep you coming back for more. Still, ASAP Shapes is a free download and it probably trains your brain in some kind of way. At least until you get bored of challenging yourself.
