It's the simplicity that makes Dwelp so enticing. Linking together colored dots shouldn't be so appealing and yet it is. Dwelp isn't a perfect game quite yet, but it is one of those stylishly minimalistic puzzle games that will grab your attention and refuse to let go.
Each level is a simple, one screen puzzle. You have to link all of the same-colored dots by placing them next to each other. Because they link together, there's a significant catch here. They move together en-masse from now on. So, if you create a T-shape of dots, you have to have an empty space of the same size to slot them down again. This is where things get trickier, as you're restricted to a fairly small board. Soon enough you also have to deal with multiple colors, making things even harder.
Each of the puzzles offers multiple solutions, but you want to find the one requiring the fewest number of moves in order to glean the most benefits. Those benefits being a bunch of special puzzles that test your skills even more so.
Dwelp isn't for the faint-hearted because, not only is it pretty tricky at times, it also doesn't offer any hints to help you out. If you get stuck on a puzzle you can always move on to another one, but you're not going to be able to solve it through anything other than your own logic skills. This might drive you a little insane, but it will keep you chipping away at levels and trying new ideas to solve them.
That's the beauty of Dwelp. It's so easy to play for a little while then return to, usually after having thought about it outside of the game anyhow. At times the difficulty level spikes a bit, meaning you'll find yourself leaping around between puzzles, but that's simple enough to do. Mostly it'll get under your skin, enticing you into defeating it, just like many of the best iOS puzzle games out there.
