Stick City RPG Review
I really enjoyed Stick Town RPG when I played it earlier this year. It turned life into an RPG and made it seem much more interesting than you’d think. Stick City RPG takes that concept and makes it all the better, as any good sequel should.
The goal is much the same as before - get rich and max out your skills. Kind of like the dream in life, I guess? You’re still running around a simply designed city too, full of block shapes and stick people. Stick City RPG expands upon its predecessor though, by offering a series of missions if you feel like it.
You can opt to go visit the mayor or gang leader to pursue various tasks. These form the basis of a handy tutorial, but they’re also great for those looking for a bit more direction in their stick based life.
You can still roam as much as you like though. The city is your oyster. Want to become a master criminal? Rob banks, get into shootouts, and beat people up for no reason. Want to be an expert bartender while also hitting the gym regularly? That’s just as possible too. The only thing that Stick City RPG really lacks is the ability to develop relationships with other stick people, but you can chat to them at least.
Such flexibility is what makes Stick City RPG so much fun. You can spend a long time just wandering around, discovering new mini-games or unlocking new items. Its sheer sense of scale is pretty impressive for a game made up of blocks and stick men.
You can buy your way ahead if you want, but there’s no real need. You can still get there over time, which sounds suspiciously like a metaphor for life.
Charmingly varied, Stick City RPG is something that deserves to stick around on your iOS device for a while to come as you chip away at your virtual life.
