James Bond: World of Espionage Review

Have you ever wanted to be an MI6 secret agent? Probably at some point. After all, the James Bond films make it look really cool and exciting - two things that James Bond: World of Espionage fails miserably at offering. Instead, this game offers you a bunch of options to tap on and surprisingly little soul and personality.

You’re in charge of an MI6 faction, essentially, sending out agents to solve missions and build upon your influence in the world. In theory, you’re driving fast cars, capturing evil villains, and even seducing some beautiful women along the way.

This is all done through tapping on a relevant box and watching your energy be depleted as you do so. It’s soulless stuff because you never feel particularly involved in the experience. Technically, the missions might be very different but how you interact never changes. Also, you often have to repeat missions in order to glean the most benefit.

You can, at least, attack other players’s factions, in order to profit from their poor defenses, but again it’s a matter of tapping on a few boxes. James Bond: World of Espionage is essentially a series of menus that give you the impression that you’re doing something more interesting.

It’s really not all that interesting though. Instead, you’re tapping boxes till you run out of energy, before waiting for it to refill so you can do it all over again. It’s as ultimately tedious as it sounds. More importantly, it’s a waste of a good license. This could have been any spy based game and while the photos of Daniel Craig et al are welcoming, it doesn’t go far enough in making you feel a part of something special.

Stick with your imagination rather than trying to garner much fun from this rather dull amalgamation of tired free to play components.
