SquirrelWarz Review

There’s no denying that SquirrelWarz is rather cute. Visually, it looks a little rough round the edges but its hand-drawn style is also quite endearing. Where it falters more so is with how it plays. It’s a Real Time Strategy game, but one that’s really quite tricky and lacks some finer touches.

You have a base to protect and a worker squirrel that can collect up acorns, which are then used to buy new troops. These troops can then be deployed in a bid to wipe out the enemy squirrels. This is where SquirrelWarz falters. You control each squirrel individually, with no way to group them together. That’s fine when there are only a couple but it soon turns into a logistical problem.

Despite its strategy background, issues like that turn SquirrelWarz into more of a frantic race to keep your squirrels moving. They’re cumbersome to manipulate individually, and you’ll soon end up rather infuriated. It’s a shame as it looked so cute on the surface.
