Ever wanted to create one of those mosaic-style, Poly Art wallpapers that seemingly dissect images into triangles and put them back together again? Personally, it’s all I ever think about. Fortunately Trigraphy reduces this process to mere child’s play thanks to its minimalistic and intuitive interface, which absolutely anyone can use to recreate an image in spectacular fashion.
Using a variety of gesture controls, users are able to edit and share the results of their tinkering with ease. After selecting and loading up a picture or taking a new one through the app users can swipe up to reveal the effects tab, letting them choose between different geometric patterns and how close to the distinguishing lines of the original image the design should adhere to. Swiping left or right will adjust the size of the shapes, altering the intricacy of the design and the clarity of the original image, the effect of which is almost instantaneous and consistently impressive.
However, one significant bug at the time of writing occurred when I tried to open pictures stored in a Photo Stream. The usual pop-up to inform of the processing stage never appeared and the photo never loaded. So tweaking pictures saved to iCloud seems like a no-go at the moment, which is inconvenient since a lot of my pictures currently reside there. To get around this, users will have to save the photo to their camera roll first and then load up the app to access it. It’s not the end of the world, but something that should’ve been checked considering the basic functions of the app.
Nevertheless, Trigraphy makes what is an interesting and professional-looking visual effect effortless, which is exactly what you want from an app with such a specific purpose. Even if its use only extends to a cool wallpaper maker, it does its job well.
