There's not a lot to Thermo Diem but then, admittedly, that's because there doesn't need to be. It gets to the root of what we all want to know about the weather – how it compares to yesterday – and that's about it. For a very quick and brief overview, it does the job.

Using data from Forecast.io, the app simply asks for your location or for you to enter your location manually and away it goes. You can enter many different places, making it simple to switch between different locations. Once you've picked somewhere, the app then simply reports one of seven things relating to the temperature. It either states the weather is much warmer, warmer, slightly warmer, similar, slightly cooler, cooler, or much cooler.

thermo3thermo5In each case the background changes to a relevant color to give you a further heads up. It figures this out by combining details relating to humidity and wind, as well as temperature, so it's usually pretty accurate, although obviously you don't need the science behind it all. In the top right-hand corner, it also displays what kind of weather conditions to expect. Otherwise, that's about it.

You can choose to load the app up each time or opt to add a widget to your notification center. That widget dispenses with color and an icon, merely telling you what to expect in text form, but that works just fine for when you're in a rush.

It's the antithesis of detailed apps such as Storm but that doesn't stop Thermo Diem from being useful in certain situations. Sometimes all you want to know is if it's warmer or colder rather than things relating to humidity and precipitation, and Thermo Diem does precisely that.
