K-5 Science for Kids - Tappity

A lot or a little?

Parents need to know that K-5 Science for Kids - Tappity is an educational, interactive science experience for elementary school kids. It aligns to the Next Generation Science Standards for K-5; the list of aligned standards are actually accessible during the lessons via a subtle icon in the corner of the screen. Parents can set up a profile for each child and specify an age group to adjust difficulty. Although the publishers say that content is scaled based on the age, it still seemed to be a bit mature for most kindergartners. Some reading (or adult support) will be helpful and kids will need to be able to use basic drag-and-drop skills to progress. Lessons often ask for kids to invite their parents in to view what they have learned, allowing for opportunities for families to discuss topics further. They also send email updates for parents to see how their kids are engaging with the app. Live, interactive lessons are released throughout the week. The schedule appears in the app and on the website. These are also posted to the app for viewing at a later time. There's quite a bit of free content for families to test things out before subscribing.
