Ever enjoy the board game, Clue? iM Detective is pretty much the iOS version of that. It feels a bit slower and more detached than the personal experience of being gathered around the table, but it's still reasonably satisfying.

detective5This time around, the board offers some slightly different options than in Clue. You still wander from place to place before guessing who did it, with what weapon, and in which location, but they're different than before. Weapons are comprised of a bat, cleaver, chainsaw, and chair. The locations are all within a park, so you have the entrance, fountain, fun park, and football field.

As usual, logic plays a valuable role here. You take turns to guess, then the next player presents a card to demonstrate what they have, thereby ruling out one possible option. Eventually you'll realize that there's only one possible set of outcomes, then it's a mad rush to the center of the board to declare your findings. Each game doesn't take very long to complete, especially when you speed up other players' actions. That works well though, given you're playing this on the move rather than around a table.

detective3You can opt to play against the AI, or with friends via iOS, Android, and Facebook, which certainly makes it a more entertaining game. Unlockable stuff as well as special abilities further help here, but really it's filler to make iM Detective seem slightly more its own game.

Ultimately, iM Detective is an experience many of us will have played over the years, but still a fairly enjoyable one. Being able to play it while on the move, especially across so many other platforms is its main selling point. It might be a fairly simple game at heart, but it makes a pleasant enough change from the usual dominance of word-based multiplayer games out there.
